Just a word of advice: don't book an overnight if you're afraid of clowns.
Are you looking for lost treasure? Want to experience the great outdoors? Trying to find proof of the afterlife? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this is the motel for you. Of course, you better not be afraid of clowns.
The Clown Motel is, hands down, the cheapest motel you'll find in Tonopah. Don't lt that worry you though, the rooms are clean, the service is great, and they've got 30 premium cable channels and free wifi. No, it's the hundreds of clowns you should be worried about. Seriously, they're in every room, watching your every move.
Oh, did I mention that the place shares a lot with an old cemetery filled with dead gold miners? Yeah, it's literally right at the end of the driveway. On the upside, Tonopah is supposed to be the site of lost treasure, and motel owner, Bob Perchetti, is happy to share his knowledge of the area with eager treasure hunters, so long as you let him in on the find.
The place has become a desert icon with some travelers swearing that it's haunted, and others saying that the scariest thing about the place is the interior design.
All jokes aside, Bob must have a pretty wild sense of humor to have run a clown-themed motel for the past few decades, but he ensures that it's clean and welcoming.. well, as welcoming as clowns can be.
Pet friendly. Cheap. Expected more clowns in the rooms but the lobby is packed. And next to the Tonopah cemetery is eerie. The rooms are run down but clean. There is wifi but practically worthless. But the bathroom floor seemed heated and the water pressure is phenomenal. Restless noises in the dark maybe something laughing at you. Stay here to say you stayed here but know that Motel 6 Is an upgrade.
Stayed here for one night, took a stroll through the Miner's Cemetery ... very interesting adventure! Staff are very helpful too.
My husband and I and a few family members took a road trip from Florida to California a few summers ago and got to visit this beauty. We had heard about it on a show that aired on IFC called Rhett and Link. They made advertisements for anyone that hired them. The town of Tonopah hired them and the video was a masterpiece. :-) When we realized we were going to the Sacramento area we made sure we went though the part of Nevada that took us to Tonapah. I am SO GLAD we did!
The town was amazing. Everyone was friendly. The gentleman that owned the motel was very kind. He allowed us to take photos and we even sat on the couch in the lobby wile he put the big clown on the seat next to us. He was also helpful with town history information. Definitely check out the miners cemetery next door. Very cool and creepy.
The Phone # for the Clown Motel is 775-482-5920,and not 482-3987,never was,not sure who put that # up.I have lived on the property as manager for 18yrs .Bob Perchetti and family are Tonopah. All were born and raised here including Bob's mother Minnie who at 95 still lives here. The Clown Motel and Miners Cemetery will be featured in the new season of Ghost Adventures airing 10/17/2015.The Clown Motel also has a section in the new Playstation Call of Duty game.If you ever want to know anything about Tonopah,or it's history, stop by and talk to Bob,he has some great stories.
I haven't been there, yet....But I have a Step Son and two BEAUTIFUL GRAND DAUGHTERS in Las Vegas, and I WOULD LOVE NOTHING MORE, than to spend a night or two in this hotel ~ but there DAMN well be a few GHOSTS hanging about! SERIOUSLY! I want to watch TV with more than just my Husband and my Daughter! If I get a room there, there BETTER be a few GHOSTS, and they better be ready to parTAY!
While I didn't spend the night here, the lobby was just as creepy as I hoped it would be.
This was a must stop for us. We did not spend the night but the thrill of just being there and walking through the cemetery was amazing.
This motel is a popular attraction for anyone who likes clowns, graveyards, paranormal activity, and paranormal investigators. The owner is friendly, and welcomes visitors, even if you don’t want to stay the night. All part of the ghost town experience.
