“Elmer's folk art forest”
One of the coolest road-side attractions along historic route 66, the Bottle Tree Ranch is a definite spot to pull over and check out, night or day. Anyone is welcome to come and take a peak at the vintage bottle installation, and if you're lucky you might get to shake hands with the man who started it all. Created by local artist Elmer Long, the bottle tree ranch has over 200 'trees' covered in bottles he collected as a kid when he and his father would venture out into the desert and collect 'anything they could find'. But it's not just bottles you'll find while exploring the endless pathways, some other treasures include signs, bird feeders, gas pumps, furniture, cars, firearms, bicycles, just to name a few. Years after collecting his horde of odd finds, Elmer decided to decorate nearly every inch of his property in beautiful clinking, recycled color. This whimsical and re-purposed destination has continued to be talked about and dearly loved, much like the artist who created it.
