“a "classic poe tower"”
Located in Oceana County, the Little Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1874 and once looked very similar to the Big Sable Point Lighthouse near Ludington. Both towers stood 107 ft tall, both were constructed of brick, and both had a third-order Fresnel lens. The Big Sable Point tower deteriorated and eventually was covered with steel plates, but the tower at Little Sable Point still looks much as it did 120 years ago. Open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 5pm with a small admission fee of $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for Children 12 and under.
Very neat old lighthouse with a nice view of Lake Michigan in the background.
Awesome lighthouse.
