“an aviation museum in La Baie, Quebec”
The Air Defence Museum is the only museum dedicated to the history of canadian military aviation in Quebec; in fact it is the only museum of francophone military aviation in Eastern North America. It is also the only place in Canada where the doors of the military base are open to the general public through guided tours of 3 Wing during regular military working hours. Since 1997, the Air Defence Museum has held several major exhibitions, including the old permanent exhibition, From fliers to fighter pilots: the history of Canadian Air Defence. Temporary exhibitions round out the museum experience: The medals and ranks in the Canadian Armed Forces (1997 - 1999), 3 Wing in Kosovo (2000), Helicopter Operations in Bagotville (2007), The Centennial of Canadian Military Aviation (2009), The Battle of Britain (2010), The Magicians of the Wild Blue Yonder (2011), At Dawn, An Alouette (2012-2013), Scourge of War (2014) and The Last Chapter (2015). Today, the Museum is recognized by its peers as an institution with a quality product and whose fame goes beyond the borders of Quebec. The museum is unique in Quebec, helping future generations to see and better understand the issues facing our country and its achievements in contributing to the peace process around the world.
