“barbecue, chicken & tea!”
Delicious classic Carolina-style barbecue (delicious tangy sauce on chopped pork and chicken) fried chicken that is so tasty it's worth the heart attack and iced tea. Family-style, with retro decor. Inexpensive but huge portions- the way BBQ should be!
Very limited and vague menu, outdoor restrooms, subpar service (and the coleslaw was a greenish-yellow color with a horseradish taste)
My favorite BBQ place anywhere. If I'm driving 95 through NC, I always stop here. It's been around since forever. My family started eating here when my Mom was a little girl (possibly before she was born, not sure). This is the kind of local institution where the first thing the server asks is if you need a menu. I don't anymore. Large Combo, which is a fried chicken breast, BBQ, brunswick stew and corn sticks. And a sweet tea, of course. It's fantastic southern food super quick.
Great place off the beaten path with big portions, courteous staff, and no-frills barbecue. $9 filled us up with two adult dinners and sides. Oh, and the food was out in 3 minutes flat. What an experience!
