“making the Big Easy, easy!”
This KOA makes the Big Easy, well, easy! It's the closest KOA to the French Quarter and the finest food, sassiest jazz and wildest times in the South. It's a great place to recharge or use Wi-Fi in a serene setting with trees, concrete pads and grass. Catch the shuttle or city buses to sample the piquant pleasures of real Cajun cooking or the one-of-a-kind charms of the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. Bike or hike the trail on the Mississippi levee. Saunter the famous riverbanks and watch the paddle wheelers ferry back and forth like in times gone by. Visit the world-class Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and The National WWII Museum. Let KOA's staff arrange swamp airboat trips or tours to nearby attractions such as plantations, cemeteries and casinos. Pets welcome! Pool: April 15 - October 15. Your hosts: the Feddermans.
We took both options to drive in and use the shuttle. I would advise to use the shuttle if you just want to have a day out as parking is expensive in the city. We really enjoyed our stay at this koa and would defiantly advise people to do the same.
Family of 5 stayed in shady spot 54 across from pool and showers. Very nice staff and looked out for you 24/7. The front desk lady will walk your dog for you. The overnight man in the golf cart keeps an eye on everything. Bathrooms are accessible with a code. Very clean. Very inexpensive laundromat that work well- dryer works very well. Took Shuttle into New Orleans. The driver was funny- great historian with satirical humor. The Hop On Hop Off bus in NO was the best way to see the city. Stayed 3 nights- and paid $5 per hour after checkout until 5pm so we didn't have to pay another full night but got to enjoy another half day in NO. Used Uber several times back to KoA. Great place!!
The site is around 14 miles away from the city, which took about 45 minutes to drive. The team will navigate you on the best route. There is a free shuttle at 9am ( pickup 5.45pm) and also at 5.00pm( no pick up).
Great campground, awesome tenting sites -all under a shady tree, elevated from the parking space in front of it and flat sand plots which made them perfect for camping. The store was well-stocked, staff was very friendly, offered a shuttle to the French Quarter for free and the showers and bathrooms were very nice. Felt safe and comfortable staying there. Would stay again.
Only a few minutes off the interstate. Fantastic staff, they are extremely friendly. Well stocked shop with free coffee :)
We were booked for two mights but only stayed one. We heard 7 gunshots about a mile away which it turned out to be a gang shooting.
Gun crime, muggings and attacks on tourists in the tourist areas have increased and an attack on Bourbon Street within 50 yards of a group of police men put us off visiting the area on our second day/evening :(
The koa team was extremely helpful and went out there way to meet your needs.
The staff was great. The shuttle to town was convenient and Roberta (who walked my dog) was awesome. It is a long way from the French Quarter (Uber is about $35) so unless you want to take the shuttle and spend 8 hours in New Orleans (plus the 45 minute drive down and back) I suggest renting a car. Unlike most of the KOA's I have been to, they had no grill or fire pit and only one bath house. But they did have a picnic table at each site. The rv sites were large. Plenty of room for the entire family. I will be staying there again on my way to Tennessee.
