“The only real way to see Niagara Falls”
The Maid of the Mist is a boat tour of Niagra Falls. (The actual boats used are each named Maid of the Mist, followed by a different Roman Numeral n each case.) The boat starts off at a calm part of the Niagra River, near the Rainbow Bridge, and takes its passengers past the America and Bridal Veil Falls, then into the dense mist of spray inside the curve of the Horseshoe Falls, also known as the Canadian Falls. The tour is available starting from either the Canadian or American side of the river, returning to the starting point in each case.
Loved it! We went early in the morning and had no wait to get onto the Maid. We go a good spot in the front of the boat and took pictures with my phone in a sealed plastic baggy :-) There were two of us, he was super soaked but I was relatively dry considering we got hit with both the mist from the Falls and a sudden downpour/thunderstorm while we were on the boat.
It was crowded on the boat, but it was worth the hustle and the bustle to see the Falls in all their majesty so close up!
Prepare to spend an hour completely soaked in a garbage bag with the head cut out. .. but it's totally worth it! It's awesome to get to see the falls from that pov and if you're visiting and have the chance to do it I highly recommend taking a ride. It's well worth the 15 bucks.
This is the quintessential Niagara Falls attraction and it's worth every penny/minute in line. The views are incredible, the experience of getting wet and getting that close to something so powerful is unreal. Definitely do it!
Definetly a must do in Niagra. The Canadian side and the US side do about the same thing so it doesn't really matter which one you do. We did the US side. It gives you great views of both sides of the falls. We were there on a day when it was raining so there was no line. However, it cleared up while we were on the boat and when we got back, it was packed. The ponchos they give you were really nice but if you are going to do both this and Cave of the Winds, do the cave first so you can wear the shoes from there on the boat. If you want to take pictures, take a go-pro or waterproof camera. If your phone is waterproof, you can use that but I would use a selfie stick so you don't loose your phone. It is very wet and you might loose your grip. Try to get on the top deck towards the front or the right side. The selfie stick also helps to get above everyone's head. Prepare to get wet but not as wet as Cave of the Winds
We had a great time on this boat ride. The Maid of the Mist takes you to every awesome viewing point on both the American and Canadian side. This worked out pretty well for us, because my buddy's travel visa wouldn't let him leave the United States (by conventional means!) and we would have missed the best views of the falls.
You'll get wet, very wet. And you'll love it. Definitely one of the best ways to see the Falls, especially if you are not able to visit the Canadian side and get the panoramic view which the American side will not provide. Certainly worth the money
Come on! Your parents did it, your grandparents did it! It's your turn!!! Ride the Maid of the Mist into white water and get drenched!! You haven't done Niagara Falls until you do this OR Cave of the Winds. Definitely get there early to beat the crowds!!
GO EARLY! Traffic gets BAD. Cross the Rainbow Bridge by foot to see it from the Canadian side, and have some Tim Hortons while you're at it.
So much fun! We bought the adventure pass ahead of time and walked right up to the ticket booth. Staff showed us where to go and gave us our ponchos, within five minutes we were on the boat. It was a slow day because it was cloudy and on a Sunday afternoon. It would've been worth the wait though. We stood on the top deck and you got great views no matter where you stand. You also get wet no matter where you stand. Use the ponchos! If you cannot make it to the Canada side, this is a fantastic way to get amazing views of all three Niagara Falls (American, Bridal Veils and Horseshoe).
This is a must for anybody going to Niagara Falls, you get to experience the water, the wind, the roar, and you get to appreciate the size of the falls.
