“offering tours for 75 years”
Located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza (on 49th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues) in Manhattan, the historic GE Building houses the headquarters of the NBC television network, its parent General Electonics, and NBC's flagship station WNBC (Channel 4), as well as cable news channel MSNBC. When NBC Universal relocated, 24 hour cable news television network MSNBC joined the network in New York on that day as well. The new studios/headquarters for NBC News and MSNBC are located in one area. The first NBC Radio City Studio Tours began operating in the early 1930s, and tours of the studios began in 1933. NBC offers guided tours of their New York studios at a cost to tourists.
Something special to behold. If you call far enough in advance it's not too difficult to get Tickets to tapings of The Tonight Show and Late Night. You can really feel all the history as you walk up to it.
The old studio tour was amazing. According to Tatiana, they're redoing it (probably getting rid of the Friday Night Lights references), so here's hoping the next one is just as good. Yours truly might just have been the best guest tourist weatherman they ever saw at 30 Rock.
As of January 1st, 2014 the NBC Studio Tour was suspended due to upgrades and renovations. They're using the downtime to totally redo the tour and make it an even better experience for TV lovers.
