This is a beautiful and large campground. It has a lot of activities and amenities. Great for kids. Has a wave pool three slides a pool area for littler ones. Horseback riding and paddle boats and more.
Mahoney State Park gets better every year as new things are added. It has so much to do that you need to stay several days to experience it all. There are great cabins to stay in, some modern and some a bit spartan. Book a year in advance for the weekends. There is a nice shaded traditional RV campground and a tent campground. The tent campground is very nice but it is close to a hill on Interstate 80 on which trucks use their loud engine brakes day and night. There is fish and paddle boating. There is a concession area with camping items and some limited food. There is horse back riding. There is a modern multi-room lodge for nicer stays. The lodge also has a restaurant in it, game rooms, shop, etc. Hiking is abundant. There is a giant steel tower to climb to see miles and miles of the Platte River Valley. There is a craft shop. There is mini-golf and golf driving range. The kids will love the swimming pool, water park and especially the giant wave pool. There are bike paths everywhere. There are playgrounds. There is a huge indoor playground. You can take in a live play in the theater. And if that isn't enough, the Strategic Air & Space museum is right next to the park. Just over Interstate 80 on the other side is the massive Henry Doorly Wildlife Safari drive through zoo. The state park itself is located about halfway between Lincoln and Omaha.. maybe about 30 minutes from either. So if you don't want to camp and can't score a cabin... those two cities offer many nice places to stay so that you can visit the park during the day. I If you wanted to soak it all in, I'd plan on on at least 3 full days there
What a campground. If you want a resort experience while glamping this is the place to go. Hotel, restaurant, water park, horseback riding make this place one of a kind.
