“Authentic Delta Blues experience”
Clarksdale, Mississippi has long been described as "Ground Zero" for blues aficionados from around the globe. It all started here. That's why Ground Zero Blues Club® was created — to celebrate the area's rich blues heritage and to provide a forum in which it can continue. Located at 0 Blues Alley next door to the Delta Blues Museum in the heart of historic downtown Clarksdale, Ground Zero Blues Club opened in May 2001. Owned by local attorney and businessman, Bill Luckett; Academy Award-winning actor and Mississippi Delta resident, Morgan Freeman; and Clarksdale native and Memphis entertainment executive, Howard Stovall; Ground Zero Blues Club is the place for anyone looking for an authentic Delta Blues experience.
Got there a little early, 6pm, and place was empty. Had a few beers and fried pickles (very good, chips not spears). Closer to show time had dinner, Wife had tamales (6) with slaw and I had pulled pork, greens, black eye peas. Tamales were great while the my meal was ok. Entertainment that night must have been the house band since most of the small audience seemed to know them. They put on a good show and the few blues classics were done very well with Wang Dang Doodle their best. Service was very good.
We followed the Blues Highway from Vicksburg to Memphis & everywhere in between. Ground Zero was absolutely the most unique, dive I've ever been in. Don't get me wrong.. there were 4 us us on a Midwest road trip, Ground Zero ranked tops in all our journals💕
Unforghetable place for blues
As someone once said "if the place makes you not want to eat there go inside and order everything on the menu"
I love the dive atmosphere, writing Everywhere, and a stage.
The staff is friendly and waiters double as the bartenders.
The food is mostly fried apps, burgers, sandwiches, and a few entrees. We shared the fried mushrooms and hot tamales. Both fried well and tasted fresh.
Definitely, the place to eat!
Sadly, we came through Clarksdale on a Monday, and everything was closed for the evening. A couple of people told us that the town goes hard Wed-Sat, and pretty much shuts down the other days - entertainment wise anyway. Bummer.
Un super moment à voir
