“America's only All-water cavern and Wildlife park”
Only cave in Pennsylvania on the National Register of Historic Places. Centuries ago, the Seneca Indians discovered this natural landmark in the Valley of Karoondinha (Penn’s Valley). The famous legend of the Indian maiden, Nita-nee (from whom the famous Penn State Nittany Lion got its name) and her French trapper lover, Malachi Boyer, has been told around campfires for generations. Forbidden to marry because of an Indian custom, they ran away and were captured, and Malachi was thrown into Penn’s Cave to die. Local history also tells of Indians and early explorers using the dry rooms for shelter. In 1885, Penn’s Cave opened as a commercial show cavern Cave Tour Farm, Nature, & Wildlife Tour Miner’s Maze Cave Rock Mountain Tour Gemstone Panning The Visitors Center is the hub of all activities at Penn’s Cave. Great! Go see it! Super fun little boat ride thru a cave. Bring a coat, it's chilly. The music in the parking lot ruins the tranquility, and just skip the gift shop. Nothing unique, waste of money. I asked about any locally made Penn's Cave souvenirs and they directed me to an Amish shop 3miles away.
My friend and I are in our 20s, we had a really nice time on the boat. It's not exciting, but a lot of fun, beautiful, and simply a nice time. I would say it's worth the effort.
Totally worth it to come here. First I took the small roads and dirt roads to get here and this part of Pennsylvania is just stunning. Beautiful cave with cool lightings and boat ride. At the end of the cave have a small exit that goes to a lake where is a small “zoo”...
Than the big goes back all the way trough the cave to the entrance.
Clean water, fresh air and beautiful scenery. I can recommend to anyone.
The gift shop little bit pricy but you can get nice gifts especially for kids.
Incredible place with awesome guided tours
Very cool cave boat trip - worth the stop of under 90 minutes - we went in the pouring rain & had fun (cave is a little drippy all the time, apparently)
We had such a wonderful time! We initially went only for the cave tour but once there, we couldn't resist also doing the tour of the wildlife park. Both of our tour guides we're so knowledgable of their respective tour and were happy to answer the many questions everyone had. Definitely recommend spending the time here! But do be prepared to be there for a few hours, it was about a 30 minute wait for the cave tour and then 40 min wait between the cave tour and the wildlife tour.
I love the boat ride.
Very unique experience, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
What a great stop even a drive through some Amish communities . The cave was huge the only bummer is things are all timed so by tickets in advance we didn't get to go on animal tour
Fantastic for kids and adults alike! Good cave tour! Bring a sweater!
