“12 mile forested park”

This corridor is a 12 mile, forested, linear park with a rugged, steep coastline interrupted by small sand beaches. This park was named in honor of Samuel H. Boardman, the first Oregon Parks superintendent. He and others of his generation felt this shining coastline should be saved for the public. What gems they gave us: admire the 300-year old sitka spruce trees, gaze at the amazing Arch Rock and Natural Bridges, and walk the 27 miles of Oregon Coast Trail that weave through the giant forests. Seaside prairies, spectacular vistas, secluded cove beaches, rugged cliffs and forested sea stacks come one after the other throughout this park. Stand and ponder the old shell middens and wonder what it was like to live in a Native American village by the Pacific Ocean.

Park at the natural bridges parking area, walk down to the left and take your first right. From there climb down ontop of the natural bridges. By far my favourite spot in the park! It is insanely scary though!

It's fitting that the first superintendant of Oregon Parks, Samuel H. Boardman, has a 12-mile coastal corridor named in his honor. Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is a breathtaking swath of coastal Northwest paradise.

From Arch Rock and Natural Bridges to the 27-mile long Oregon Coast Trail, a visit will take you through 300-year old sitka spruce trees and lush forests.

With a rugged coastline, and small sandy beach coves, this scenic corrider provides some of the most breathtaking scenic vistas in the Pacific Northwest. It's 12 forested miles along the coast with various scenic overlooks, such as the Samuel H. Boardman State Park Scenic Point.

Between 1949 and 1957 the land was purchased by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and ultimately named after Samuel H. Boardman who served as the Oregon State Parks' first superintendant from 1929 to 1950.
