Overview

Winston-Salem is a city in officially in Forsyth county and informally in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. The city lies in the center of the state and is on the geographically bounded by the Blue Ridge section of the Appalachian Mountains to the west and more land leading to the Atlantic Ocean to the east. As of 2014, it had an approximate population of 360,000.

  1. Winston-Salem is popularly known as the “Twin City” due to its hyphenated name.
  2. The popular camel cigarettes were produced by the local R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company.
  3. It was only in 1889 that the post offices of Winston and Salem were consolidated. However, the cities merged officially only in 1913.
  4. The Brookstown Inn is rumored to be very haunted. Most of the paranormal activity is reported on the fourth floor, and if you want the creepiest experience, ask for room 401.
